Artist statement

My work interrogates formal concerns of Sculpture, not only as an expression of my own but also as a different language which people can apply their individual understanding upon; there is an excitement when a form cannot be fully understood, but has a kind of intrinsic rightness or, a presence of it's own.

Paper has become a space; drawing is at the core of my practice, providing a fertile ground for the development of ideas and sculptural pieces. Although intuitive in their making, my works however hold loose influence from a personal interest in organic and architectural forms; hinted at through line and shape.

My sculptural works combine process and are non-subjective; they are conceived as 'drawings in space'. I experiment with the concept of ‘play’, the aesthetics of materials, and grouping sculptural pieces in terms of materiality, and conversations works can have as a group.

Works of artists such as Richard Tuttle, Eva Rothschild and Al Taylor inform ideas and processes within my practice, for their explorations into material language, form, and space.
